After what seems like FOREVER, we’re finally finished with our master bath makeover!!! I still need to add a few details…window treatment, chandelier, new towels…but for the most part, it’s DONE!!!!
Here are some before pics so you can see how NOT cute it was…
My vanity. Wah-wah. Stark white. Burnt out light in the crappy commercial light fixture. YUCK cabinets. Bad decor. Don’t know if you can see it, but there’s my “30” wine glass on the counter…I needed to drink just to be in the bathroom.
Like I said, YUCK cabinets.
After many, MANY hours…lots of days…several late nights…a few drinks…and some mishaps, here’s the new…and VERY improved, master bath…
I LOVES.
Okay, so this is totally not a color I would normally go with, but I’m tryin’ new things…and I’m SO glad I did!!! I was trying to pull out the blue in my new bedding and the bathroom seemed like the PERFECT place to incorporate it. I couldn’t be happier!!!! The color is called “Emperor”. I found the Ralph Lauren paint chip at Home Depot, but had the guys at Lowe’s mix me the Valspar version. I LOVE Valspar paint!!!!! My favorite!!!!
Here’s how we made it all happen…
It just wasn’t in our budget to replace the cabinets and I’m SO not about spending lots of money anyway. Plus, I LOVE the satisfaction of doing things myself! SO…I picked out this Napoleon Brown from Ralph Lauren to paint the cabinets. I’m SO not a paint snob, but the paint was on sale and the total cost to paint the cabinets was a whopping $7!!!!!! Can’t beat it!!!!
I wanted a vintage-y feel in the bathroom, so I picked out these crystal knobs from Hobby Lobby. They were half-off & I think I paid $3 for each. The total cost for knobs was $36. Not too shabby!
To keep with the feel, I had it set in my mind to display a white/cream plate collection above the tub. So, I scoured the aisles of TJ Maxx & found all these plates {plus a few that we didn’t hang} on the same day!!! The most expensive plate I think was $3!!! Total cost for plates: $24. Don’t you LOVE?!?!?! {Still need to add a window treatment}
Here’s my little vanity. At you can see, the mirrors got a makeover, too. Those suckers were NOT coming off no matter how hard we tried to pull them loose, so we got creative. We found some pre-primed crown molding at Lowe’s & spray painted it {using Rustoleum Satin Espresso} to match the cabinets. Mr. Spouse measured and cut everything because it would’ve seriously taken me a gajillion tries & LOTS of money to get it right ;) Then he attached it all with nail glue. I LOVE the way it looks and I definitely think it finishes everything off pretty nicely!! Total cost to frame the mirrors: $16.
As you can see {kind of} we also upgraded light fixtures. We found these little beauties at Lowe’s. You can’t tell in the pics, but the glass is frosted and antiqued in certain areas, so they look really vintage! LOVE THEM!!! Mr. Spouse spotted these & picked them up for a total of a little over $100. Not too bad for light fixtures, but definitely our most expensive bathroom purchase. I personally think the Spongebob hand soap adds a nice touch ;)
We also painted inside the cave and added a fun little distressed towel rack.
I LOVE this little detail!!! A total random find at Ross for a whopping $6!!!!!!!
Here’s another little look at my vanity. {I still need to add a couple of plates to Mr. Spouse’s vanity area on the right.} On my vanity, I added a fun little birdcage that opens from the top to hold all my hand towels, q-tips, and cotton balls. I LOVE IT!! I found it at Hobby Lobby for $20, brought it home & gave it a coat of Rustoleum Heirloom White spray paint.
So there ya have it! One of my favorite rooms in the house for sure!!!! It’s so calming & peaceful! I still want to add a chandelier above the bathtub, so that’s my current project.
Let’s take another look, shall we?!
