What’s In Your Pocket?!

I’ve been terrible about going to the grocery store lately!!  Because I always leave my list either at home or in the car, I inevitably forget something that I need.  Fortunately, I always have the “staples” at home so dinner doesn’t have to suffer.  This recipe came about because I had no taco shells for tacos & no lettuce for taco salad.  And let’s face it…everything tastes better inside a crescent roll :)

TACO POCKETS

1 lb. ground beef

2 tbsp. taco seasoning {I used McCormick’s}

1/2 small yellow onion, chopped

Shredded cheddar cheese

2 cans crescent rolls

Salsa/Picante Sauce {I used PACE}

OPTIONAL

Tomatoes, Sour Cream, Guacamole, Black Olives

Brown meat & chopped onion.  Drain & return to pan.

Taco Pockets

Add 1/2 cup of water and 2 tablespoons of taco seasoning & heat until water evaporates. Stir in cheese.  I like to add the cheese while the meat’s still in the pan because it melts pretty quickly :)  If you’d rather wait to add the cheese, you can do that too :)  You really can’t screw this one up!

On a separate baking sheet, unroll crescents and separate into 8” rectangles.  Press the perforations to seal. These will be your “pockets”!

Now spoon the taco meat onto the crescent & top with 2-3 teaspoons of salsa.

Fold the other end of the crescent over the taco meat & use a fork to seal the edges. I definitely OVERLOADED the crescents so I had some serious seepage issues!!  But they were still DELICIOUS!!!

Bake at 400 for 13-15 minutes or until crescents are brown.

These are SO easy…so tasty…so downright DELICIOUS!!!!  Top with sour cream,guacamole, tomatoes, black olives…or whatever you want.  You really can’t go wrong with anything!  SO, what’s in your pocket{s}?!?!

  1. Save couple of left over crescent rolls and stuff with apple pie filling and a little cinnamon/sugar. Bake along with the taco pockets and you will have desert ready to eat right after dinner!

    If it is chocolate you crave...stuff the crescent roll with a fun size candy bar before baking.....so good!!!
