Slowly but surely, our master bath/bedroom is coming together. I’ve finally started to tackle a few little projects I’ve been meaning to start for a LONG time. Like this sweet little bench…
I bought this about 3 years ago at this little antique shop for a whopping $7!!!!! LOVE IT!! As not cute as it is, it looks a gaJILLION times better than it did upon purchase. The seat was originally covered in a pillowcase that was embroidered with mushrooms?! SO…I brought it home…recovered the seat in this really generic fabric…and just let it sit in the bathroom under my vanity. I really wanted to dress it up and paint it, but I never got around to it.
FINALLY…3 years later…we’ve started to redo the bathroom and NOW my sweet little $7 bench has a purpose. SO…time for a facelift! First thing’s first. The color. I decided to paint it the same color as the bathroom…Emperor blue, I think?!
After a couple of coats, I was looking at a brand new bench.
BETTER ALREADY!!
But the fabric had to go. I picked up some textured brown fabric that was PERFECT for the look I’m going for. I ripped off the other fabric, added some foam & batting, and pulled out the staple gun to throw it all together. {Before I added the foam, I was literally sitting on covered wood. Ouch.}
Ahhhh…that feels MUCH better. But there was still something missing. SO…I took my favorite little antiquing glaze, gave the bench a few coats and wiped off the excess. Finally…a look that I absolutely ADORE.
LOVES.

ReplyDeleteI love it! What antique glaze did you use?
ReplyDeleteLove it! Don't you just love it when you get a good bargain and then you use your mad skills to make it great? Awesome bench! Love the color. What kind of glaze did you use? I am still trying to find one that I like.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite glaze...the one I always use...is the Antiquing Glaze from Valspar. I also really like the Ralph Lauren Faux Glaze, but I always have the Valspar glaze on hand...my fave!!
