Paula Deen’s Sausage-Rice Casserole

All I can say about this one is YUH-meeeeeeee!!!!  Love it!!  It’s quick… it’s easy…it does NOT disappoint.  And the best part about it?!  It tastes even better the next day!!

Sausage-Rice Casserole

1 6oz box Uncle Ben’s white rice

1 pound ground Sausage {I use Jimmy Dean’s HOT sausage}

2 small yellow onions, chopped

1 4oz can mushroom pieces

1 can cream of mushroom soup

4 tbsp {1/2 stick} butter

***Team Carroll version:  Ummm…I don’t know about y’all, but I can’t cook rice to save my life, so I use 2 bags of the boil-in-a-bag rice :)  AND…I only use 1 onion {per Adam’s request}…AND we don’t add the mushrooms!! ***

Preheat oven to 350.  Cook rice according to directions.  In a skillet over medium heat, cook sausage until done & drain.

Combine all ingredients EXCEPT butter & pour into casserole dish. Melt butter and pour evenly over top of mixture.  Bake until bubbly, about 25 minutes.

Okay.  Delish. This is another Paula Deen recipe that I just adore.  It’s quick.  It’s easy.  And it’s seriously DELICIOUS!!  We usually eat this with a side of corn & Mama Bella’s parmesan garlic bread.  Y-U-M!!!
