A couple of weeks ago I made a little display for my earrings. I felt a little bad that my necklaces were getting left out, so I made a little something for them, too. SO far, it hasn’t fallen apart. I consider that a HUGE success.
I gathered all my supplies…a LARGE candlestick, small wooden circle, wooden plaque, finnial, wood for support, and Gorilla Glue Epoxy. {Don’t mind the workspace…she’s a little dirty ;)}
Ummm…before I go on…I found this candlestick at Hobby Lobby for a whopping $2!!!!!! SCORE! Much like everything else I buy on sale, I had NO clue what I was going to do with it, but for 2 bucks, I couldn’t pass it up!!!!
Anywho…back to the project…
This was definitely inspired by these precious recipe holders from Shanty2Chic. GENIUS!!!!!
I used Gorilla Glue Epoxy to adhere the small wooden circle to the candlestick. PERFECT fit!
I glued the wood beam to the back of the plaque…
…and then used the epoxy to attach the plaque & beam to the wooden circle.
After that had time to dry, I screwed cup hooks into the plaque. Since I can’t ever do anything straight, I had to use a ruler to make sure everything was even :)
I took out my trusty Rustoleum Heirloom White spray paint and went to town. {Actually, I spray painted it all this really pretty rust color first, but I didn’t like the way it looked. A little too “blah”.} I let that dry and then went to town with my sanding block to give it a worn look. Here’s what I got…
Now my necklaces have a home, too!
While I had out the spray paint, I decided to give my little fleur de lis whatnot a little makeover, too.
