What the Teacher Wore Wednesday

I'm linking up with The Pleated Poppy today for a little What I Wore Wednesday action :)

The weather sure has been fickle in my little corner of Texas.  It can't decide if it wants to cool down or stay hot.  When it comes to getting dressed in this kind of weather, I usually pair a long-sleeved top with some shorts.  That's been my go-to uniform this past week!

I headed out to Round Top for Antiques Week with a girlfriend on Saturday.  Sadly, we didn't see Chip or JoJo ;)  When we left the house that morning, it was a chilly 60 degrees. I knew it would warm up a bit, so I threw on the Target plaid I posted about a couple of weeks ago and then some plain ol' black shorts.  I ended up in my black TOMS because I knew I'd be walking a TON that day.  What that outfit lacked in "style" it made up for in comfort.  My legs were on FIRE after an 8-hour shopping day!!! But I did score some pretty great "junk", so it was worth it ;)

Fringe Crossbody: Two Bar West
Shoes:  TOMS

I was doing some work at my first grader's campus last week and while I was there I popped in to have lunch with him.  I mean, bless.  Does he EVER get any food in his mouth?!?!? ;) Hahaha.  My Texas blood was COLD that day.  I'm pretty sure the temps were in the 60's (cue the laughter from all my friends who REALLY know what cold is ;))  Old Navy has the CUTEST popovers and plaid shirts right now.  I was excited to wear this one and absolutely LOVE it.  SO comfy!!  I paired it with my favorite skinny jeans and some casual booties.  And pigtails for good measure...because nothing says "mature adult" quite like pigtails ;)

Booties:  JC Penney (y'all..Penney's has some CUTE shoes right now!!!)

I found this vented sweater at Forever 21 last month and absolutely LOVE it.  It's lightweight and drapes just perfectly.  When it gets cooler, I'll be pairing it with some of my favorite vests and sweaters.  For now it's great with shorts :)

In other news, I'm getting my hair done tomorrow because these grays are officially out of control.  In a terrible, terrible way.  I usually get the bottom layer of my hair dyed black and then a lighter brown on top.  I'm thinking about changing things up and going for some ombre.  I just want a change!  Here are some colors I'm loving right now...especially the colors on the far right and far left.

I've had long hair for a long time.  I really do love it.  But every now and then I want a change with the cut, too.  I went super short about 9ish years ago.  Like, right below my ears short.  I personally loved the cut, but a co-worker at the time told me my face was "too fat" for a short cut.  That's stuck with me for all these years, so I don't want to go too short.  I need something that compliments my chipmunk cheeks :)  I'm thinking about an angled cut like the one on the right.  Katie's ***might*** be too short, but I'm loving the choppiness and the bangs.  And the cut on the left is sort of perfect.  Not too long, not too short.  My husband tells me not to cut it at all.  What is it with men and long hair?!

I'll probably come back from the salon with the exact same black and brown color I usually get and then just a trim to top it all off.  Dangit!!!!

  3. Oh dang, so sorry someone told you something so negative about your face shape. You have a beautiful shaped face, you could wear your hair short or long. I hate that negative comments like that are a part of life for women and girls. You never hear people telling men that and tbh most guys would look so much better with a haircut suited to their face shape.

    1. You are so sweet, Marg. In her defense, I asked her to be brutally honest. Looking back at pictures, I think she was right, lol!!! And seriously, I agree about the guys haircuts!!! So true!

  4. Good luck with your hair! I recently went a bit shorter and the stylist interpreted "graze my shoulders" as like 2 inches above my shoulders - so just watch out! They like to get snip-happy. I can't wait for mine to grow out a tad but it's been fun to play with and I've gotten a lot of compliments. Seriously with men and the long hair! I guess they interpret it as more feminine? My husband (thankfully!) says if I'm happy with my hair, then I'm happier overall...meaning he's happier!

    1. Gah!!! Why do they do that?! I'm crossing my fingers the pictures I take in will help get my point across...I don't think I'm ready for an above-the-shoulders cut just yet!! But you know how that goes. As soon as it's cut short, I get the itch to go shorter. Dangit!!!

  5. You look great always. This summer I tried one of those shorter in the back things. I loathed it. It was just too much work. I just couldn't make it look right everyday. It also brought out some weird curls in the wrong places. I couldn't wait for it to grow out. I like the one on the left for a little change. After my disastrous cut this summer, Hubby's comments were, "when will you learn to just keep what you know looks good?" He is sort of right, but we do need to try new things every now and then. My take away is I won't be so drastic with my change next time! Can't wait to see what you do!

    1. Sweet of you to say, Sandy!!! I'm thinking more and more about the angled cut and I'm not sold on it at all. My husband isn't a fan either. And I hate that they're always right about hair!!! Hahaha!!! Nervous excited right now!

  12. Okay, even though you asked her to be honest, I completely disagree with your co-worker. Plus I think she could have said it another way:). I think you could rock the short hair!
