I started putting out my Spring decor a few weeks ago and randomly uploaded a few pics to Instagram here and there. I figured I'd hop over here and post them all in one little place :)
This was my Easter mantle last year. Simple. And I loved it. And it stayed just like that until August :) My mom would come over and say, "don't you think it's time to change out the chalkboard?" every.single.time she stopped by. I should also mention I had a St. Patrick's Day chalkboard displayed as well. Hahaha. I eventually got the hint and replaced it with another verse.
This year I decided to do something a little different. Now that I have a new mirror on the mantle, I want it to stay there. Plus, I repurposed two of the shutters and put them in the guest room as wall decor...and one of them broke :( (womp, womp) SO I really only have two I can use on the mantle now.
I feel like my mantle is always a work in progress. Always. But I do love it during the holidays.
I keep a small basket on the hearth with a couple of blankets and a seasonal pillow. I found that great galvanized tin can at Ross for about $6 and filled it with branches. The lantern was a $20 steal from Kirkland's a few months ago and I'm not sure that's where it will stay.
I love decorating for Easter because you can do so much with so little. The eggs in the apothecary jars were from Wal Mart. WAL MART, people!!! $3 per box! I bought 2 boxes, And guess what else is from Wally World?! That wreath on the mirror!!!!! GET.OUT!!! $12!!!!!
The moss covered spring banner was a fun find from Marshall's ($9.99). Any time I find a seasonal banner at Marshall's, I grab it. They go fast! They do around here anyway. The little white rabbit was also from Marshall's ($10) and Mr. Spouse is NOT a fan. He says it reminds him of the rabbit from Monty Python. He made me watch the scene to which he was referring and now that's all I can think about when I see the dang thing!!! Hahahaha. I wanted to add another natural element to the display, so I took two of my twig wreaths (Hobby Lobby) and gave them a home on the mantle.
The little pair of bunnies was a gift from my mother-in-law. They are what kickstarted my little bunny collection. Let me just say right now that I've never been a fan of rabbit decor. Trust me when I say I'm not knockin' ya if that's what you like. Not at all. I've just never liked them. And then my MIL brought me those black and white rabbits last year and I fell in love. And now I find myself looking for them everywhere I go.
Right across from the mantle and behind our sofa is this little buffet/gallery wall. I'm not 100% sure I like how I have it decorated, but that's all I got for this year's decor, so it stays.
The white bowl (Marshall's, $6) is filled with robin eggs on a bed of moss. The eggs are from Hobby Lobby and I've had them for a few years. The eggs in the apothecary jar are from Hobby Lobby also. The two little brown rabbits were from Marshall's, I think. So is the white bird ($4) and the cloche with the nest ($15). The only reason I remember half of these prices is because I never take the stickers off...unless they're visible :)
The lantern looking thing was a fun find at Tuesday Morning. I found it several months ago and swooned over it for a second and decided I didn't need it. It was only $17, but I couldn't figure out what to do with it, so I left it on the shelf with all the others. I went back about a month or so later and there it was, but this time there was only 1 left. And I was certain it wouldn't be there when I returned and then I'd never be able to find it again. So I had to have it. There's a little spot on the inside for a candle, but I wasn't feelin' it. It sat in my decor closet forever until it was time to start decorating for Spring. Then I added the nest and I think I love it. I think.
This is the display on the sofa table you see as you walk through my front door. It's the bane of my existence, I swear. But I have to say, I really like it this season! Mark that as a first!
It's a random hodgepodge of so much, but simple at the same time. Or maybe that's just how I feel :) You might be seeing something TOTALLY different :)
I found this vintage scale on Ebay a few months ago and I LOVE it. Just love it. I was originally planning on adding it to my kitchen decor, but wasn't diggin' it so I've been putting it in different places all over the house. Right now it's home for that little bird's nest and I think it works perfectly! I also topped one of my little white vases (Ross, $4) with a bird's nest. I found those nests at Marshall's YEARS ago after season and they were a whopping $3 a piece! Of course, I bought them all :) Really, there were only 3 left, so I snatched 'em up. The little berry ball is part of a set of 3 that I scored at Tuesday Morning.
I was OBSESSED with this sweet little white rabbit when I saw him on the shelf at Marshall's. He was wearing a lime green gingham scarf, but I didn't like that at all, so I cut it off. I couldn't pass him up for $7! The moss covered rabbit was from Kirkland's and I think he's precious. I found that pot of lavender (fake, of course) at Ross for $6. It's been sitting in a closet for a while and I figured it was the perfect time of the year to bring it out. I placed the plant inside of a galvanized tin can I found at Ross for $4!!! It's a smaller version of the one on my hearth. The frame with the nest of eggs was from Marshall's and that's probably going to stay out after the season and end up in another part of the house. I love it so. The moss balls and polyresin stands are from Hobby Lobby (50% off, of course ;))
I have a buffet in my dining room that I recently scored at a local trade days and this is the only seasonal decor that adorns it. Just the right amount of spring for that room :) That little rabbit is from Wal Mart...I think he was $4?!!? And I found that great little bunny sugar bowl at Home Goods and it was $5.
This is the only spring/Easter decor in my kitchen and it's just the right amount. I really try hard not to clutter my countertops because I swear that's my worst household habit. Okay, well that and leaving a trail of clothes and work all over the floors. Oh...and leaving piles of laundry on the couch for days at a time. And...well...AHEM.
Moving on...
I knew I didn't have the wall space for this print when I found it, but it was the only one. And just like everything else at Home Goods, when you find something you really like, and it's the last one left, just get it. I figured I could always give it away as a gift if I couldn't find a home for it. Plus, it was only $12. (Bare with me as I try to justify this purchase to myself.) Naturally, I brought it home and tried it everywhere. It blended in on the mantle. There was no room for it on the buffet. I didn't like the way it looked on the sofa table. Grrrr. So off to the kitchen it went. And I love the way it fits in this little space. And that little urn full of eggs?!?! Another great Wal Mart find!!!! I think it was $5!!!
And that's that. I'll probably have all this stuff out until August...or until my mom comes over and tells me to change it all out! HA!!! (Love you, mom!!!!!)
LOVE this. So many steals and deals!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Natalie!
DeleteOk I need to hit up Wal-Mart because I love that little burlap rabbit.. like I need 5 of them! I am pretty much obsessed with bunnies so that is a no brainer that I need those ;) Also, love what you did with the mantle mirror and since I have the same exact one from Kirklands, I'll be stealing your Wal-Mart wreath idea too! excuse me while I run to Wal-Mart on my lunch break to get all these goodies hahaha ;)
ReplyDeleteYes, you definitely need those bunnies...and the wreath!!! Hope you got away during your break ;)
DeleteI'm usually not really into Easter and spring decor because it's all pastels - which really isn't my thing. But yours are such pretty neutrals! I especially love your chalkboard sign!!
ReplyDeletePastels aren't my thing either, Claire! I tried to stay away from them!! Thanks so much!!
DeleteI absolutely love every - single - thing. Adorable and gorgeous at the same time!
ReplyDeleteThat's so sweet of you to say! Thank you, Cheryl!
DeleteWow! I LOVE your home and the decor. It's so cute and I love that the decor isn't so expensive...thanks for sharing. I just looked back at my mantle as I was reading this and just laughed. :) I really need to update it!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Olivia! And let me just say I'm all about the "inexpensive" things in life ;)
DeleteOk you need to make a trip to Ohio and decorate for me. This is all just GORGEOUS! I love seeing all of your great finds...I swear Home Goods and Marshalls are the best places on earth, I could spend days in them. I have been pining for that mirror on your mantle! Love the sign in the kitchen as well, it looks perfect there! Do you ever have trouble with your two sweet boys messing up any décor? I know the way that my boys have balls flying around this house things would be knocked over! ha!
ReplyDeleteWell you're being way too sweet, Andrea! HomeGoods/Marshall's/TJ Maxx....my homes away from home :) They are the best!!! I usually don't have problems with the boys because after a few spills and breaks (flying balls) last year, we have a "no ball" policy in the house :) Poor boys felt so bad when they broke a few of my things, I think they're too scared to make the same mistake again! HA!!
