Did y’all ever play that game in grade school?? {Did I just date myself by calling it grade school??} We used to play it all the dang time…well into 5th & 6th grade. I always peeked, too. One of my favorites. This post has absolutely NOTHING to do with that game, but every time I see or say the word “7-Up”, that’s what I think of. I also think of the episode of Seinfeld when George came up with the name “Seven” for his unborn child, but that’s a whole other post :) I’m sure y’all have seen the 7-Up biscuits floating around Pinterest. I saw ‘em and about fell out. Couldn’t wait to try them! And ohmiword…just as good as everyone said they would be!
7-UP BISCUITS
2 cups Bisquick
1/2 cup sour cream
1/2 cup 7up
1/4 melted butter
If this recipe doesn’t scream EASY, I don’t know what does. 4 ingredients?! SOLD.
In a large bowl, mix together the Bisquick and sour cream and then add in the 7 Up. This will make a really funky, soft dough. Yes, that’s the description I’m goin’ with.
Now melt a the butter and pour it into a 9 in. square pan. All I had handy was an 8x8, so that’s what I used. Not sure if that changes the consistency of the biscuits, but trust me when I say that mine turned out pretty much amazing, so if all you have is an 8x8, then go with it!!
You can sprinkle some additional Bisquick out on a cutting board and then pat out the dough. If Go ‘head and cut ‘em while your at it, or if you’re like me, just wait ‘til they’re nice and baked :) Place the dough on top of the melted butter.
In all honesty, I probably should’ve cut the dough into biscuits first, but they were still amazing. Just had to use a little more elbow grease I was ready to eat. Bake at 450 for about 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
Ignore this not so flattering picture because I swear it doesn’t do these biscuits justice. If I didn’t think Mr. Spouse would’ve been disgusted with me for eating the whole pan by myself, I totally would have. These are AMAZING. Are y’all fans of Popeye’s biscuits?!! If y’all are, then y’all will LOVE these. They taste like a copycat for sure!!! I paired our biscuits with a heaping plate of Buffalo Chicken mac & cheese {recipe coming soon!!} and ohmiword…to die for. If we’d have had any left over, I totally would’ve used ‘em to sop up some white gravy the next morning…y’know, if I knew how to make white gravy. Light and fluffy…full of flavor…these biscuits are a MUST with your next meal!!
These look delish!
ReplyDeleteWow! These look wonderful and so simple! Will definitely give them a try!
ReplyDeleteI just made these!! I used Sprite and Trader Joe's Pancake mix and they turned out GREAT!!! Thanks for the recipe!!! So easy and so good!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to try these. They look delicious.
ReplyDeleteOh and I forgot to tell you that i too LOVED heads up 7-up, and I looked at the shoes everytime!!
ReplyDeleteI happened to be catching up on blogs this afternoon before I left school, when I read this recipe. They were perfect for our breakfast dinner. My husband and I have actually been talking lately about finding a good biscuit recipe. He made some the other night, but "mine" were much better :) He was a little hesitant when I took the pan out of the oven and they weren't cut yet. He said, "are we eating biscuit casserole?" He hates casseroles! They were delicious! He even agreed it was the type of biscuit he was looking for.

I have been wanting to try these for a while - thanks for sharing this !
ReplyDeleteI played Heads Up-7 Up in elementary school too! My kids play it now the mornings of our state test in May. I actually thought about it yesterday because we were voting for our class party and I said "Heads down, eyes shut" and I was so tempted to add "thumbs up". I've seen these all over pinterest and they look delish. LOVE this blog (and all of your others of course). Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteLiving A Wonderful Life
How can this be right!?! I'm so excited to try!
ReplyDeleteWho thinks up a recipe like this!? I can't even believe it!
I've had that one "pinned" for awhile on pinterest. Can't wait to try it...especially since it is advertised as just like Popeyes. Those are my favorite!
ReplyDeleteI made these this morning! So good and easy! Will definitely make these again!
ReplyDeleteI made these the other night, courtesy of Pinterest, and they were amazing! I had no idea 7-Up could make something taste so wonderfully delicious.
ReplyDeleteIf you like sausage gravy on your biscuits, try this recipe. It's way yummy and pretty dang easy. Very meaty though. Sometimes I just use half the amount of sausage and do the rest of the recipe the same. http://www.bobevans.com/Recipe/3/Sausage-Gravy
ReplyDeleteThey look amazing! I can't wait to try them!
ReplyDeletethese look awesome :)
ReplyDeleteAnd we played Heads up 7up in grade school, too. I always cheated and looked at my classmates' shoes. LOL
Yep, I have tried these and love them. I like to add a packet of ranch to my sour cream - believe it or not they are even better!
ReplyDeleteJust had to comment--I played that game, too, but we called it "Heads down, thumbs up". Always thought it was fun, now I know it was a way for the teacher to keep up quiet and occupied!
ReplyDeleteDo you think diet 7-Up would work as well? (for those that can't have too much sugar?)
ReplyDeleteI've had this recipe saved and finally got a chance to make them this morning. The taste was absolutely delicious! I only had Sierra Mist and reduced fat sour cream on hand and the taste was still excellent. The only problem that I had was once I rolled them out, they fell apart as I was putting them in the pan lined with butter. It just altered the look to more of a flat drop biscuit. I can't wait to try them again, leaving them intact as you did. Also, I want to try adding some garlic seasonings to the butter. The texture definitely reminded me of Cheddar Bay Biscuits at Red Lobster, an all time fav!
ReplyDeleteLove you blog dearly! :)
This tasted exactly like you said...
ReplyDeleteOk I don't normally comment...But I need to...These are the best thing ever!!!!! MUST TRY! thank you..I have passed this recipe out so many times already and many compliments!!!
ReplyDeleteJust tried these tonight! used Sprite instead of 7-up. They were delicious!
